Position Title: Marketing Coordinator (Summer Student)
Reports to: CEO
Duration: May 12, 2025 – July 4, 2025* (8 weeks duration)
Number of Positions: 1 – Summer Student (Canada Summer Jobs Program; Full-time, 8 weeks)

Dress for Success Canada Foundation is among Canada’s most recognized registered charities in support of gender equity, economic independence, and workforce development for women and non-binary individuals.
Through our nation-wide scope, and diversified and sustainable funding, we support the core needs of local Canadian affiliates to effectively scale the number of women served through pre-employment and job retention programming, to help women thrive personally and professionally. We do this by:
- Working in partnership with local affiliates and Dress for Success Worldwide to build capacity and enhance operational efficiencies
- Sourcing revenue to support affiliates’ operations and programs, and drive national initiatives
- Increasing awareness of Dress for Success and its impact in Canada
- Coordinating national impact measurement.
Dress for Success is a global not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the pre-employment and job retention development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Dress for Success Canada Foundation is proud to play an important role in this worldwide network. In Canada there are 13 Dress for Success affiliates from coast-to-coast: Vancouver, Kelowna, Central Alberta, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Orillia & Barrie, Ottawa, Toronto, Kingston, Montreal and Halifax. Together, they provided service to 10,343 women and non-binary individuals and worked with more than 600 social service and employment referral agencies in 2024.
About the Role
To support Dress for Success Canada Foundation (DFSCF) and www.helpingwomennow.ca communications, research, and data collection initiatives with the ultimate goal of demonstrating the impact of our programs and services to clients, funders, donors and broader community.
Key Responsibilities
Development
- Analyze trends in grant-making and community investment, identifying best practices and bringing forward recommendations to help advance the Foundation’s impact
- Contribute to grant writing efforts and conduct research to explore funding opportunities
- Support donor engagement re: 2025 National Affiliate Conference
Communication
- Write and manage donor stewardship communication pieces including impact reports; infographics; case for support
- Support the Foundation with storytelling and marketing opportunities through the creation of compelling and persuasive content for various communication channels, including DFSCF’s website, social media, presentations, speeches, press releases, and marketing materials
- Develop and manage stakeholder newsletter content and calendaring
- Lead engagement strategy across social media channels
- Website updates
- Respond to reporting requests from the CEO and Board on an as required/requested basis
- Connect with Dress for Success Affiliates in Canada as a participant in monthly DFSCF + Affiliate calls
The employer will be responsible for providing the following:
- Laptop will be provided.
- Access to Google Workspace applications
As you will be working from a remote location you will be responsible for:
- Access to staff by phone, email, and/or Google Meet at all times during regular working hours.
- Ensuring a safe work environment.
- The following, at your own expense:
- Internet service at sufficient speed for remote work
- Office space and furniture
- Phone service
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required
- Scholastic focus in English, Communications, Data Analysis, Public Relations or Public Advocacy an asset
- Awareness of gender-based issues and barriers faced by marginalized women and non-binary individuals
- Experience with marketing, branding or communications strategies would be an asset
- Experience with web-based research and databases
- Proven ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Google Workspace; WordPress; Canva; TypeForm
- Organized and detail oriented
- Experience working as a volunteer in the social service sector would be an asset
- Proficiency in French an asset
To be eligible for this position youth must:
- Be between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position.
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred.
- Have a valid SIN and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Note:
- International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
- The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
- The successful candidate will be required to complete an Employee Consent Form to record their consent to release their information to ESDC.
This project is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program (under the Department of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)). As such, applicants must meet the requirements indicated above.
Working Conditions:
- 35 hours per week; 8 week duration
- Remote (from a home office)
- $19.20/hour
- 9:00 am – 4:30 pm with a ½ hour unpaid break for lunch
